Cool Shit

I'm a sucker for anything abandoned, so I was thrilled to see someone took eerie pictures of China's answer to Disneyland, Wonderland.

If you were a fan of Lost, I think you'll get a kick out of this. And no, it has nothing to do with the cobbled together ending.

If you have a Kindle, and have 99 cents to burn, why don't you check out the country's highest ranking private detective? Haven't gone through any of these yet, but the price seems right to take a risk...

Speaking of reading, there are few things I enjoy more. And part of that is discovering new books out there that challenge, frustrate, entertain, and satisfy me. The website The Millions is a great place to do that, especially now, with their A Year in Reading series. Check it out.

Like drawing? Like cars? Like checking out other people's drawings of cars? Well, you don't have to have such specific interests to enjoy this site, but if you do have them, I definitely recommend you check it out.

I recently finished Everyone Loves You When You're Dead, by Neil Strauss and found it to be a fascinating look into the many different personalities of popular music. Specifically:

  • Courtney Love is cheap
  • David Pirner is insecure
  • Orlando Bloom could be perceived as not the sharpest guy in the world
  • Ludacris is exactly how you'd expect
  • Bo Diddley is bitter
  • Chuck Berry is smarter than you think

And it goes on and on. A great book to pick up when you want and find out not just about these individuals, but also how fame and celebrity can affect a person.

For Clinton fans – a book is coming out shortly detailing a lot of what happened during the Clinton presidency.

If you saw The Office last Thursday, you probably know what parkour is. Check out this video of someone actually doing it right.

Cool theory called The Inconvenience Threshold. Definitely slacker inspired.

Want a really good view of the night sky? Perhaps you should travel to Chile.

Hmmm…would you pay for a product that would analyze what you were watching on television and then give you facts to counter what was being said on that program? Think news pundits as an example of how it would best work.

((Note: This might be the funniest Between 2 Ferns I've seen. Agree? Disagree? Let me know.)

Tyra takes off her hair. Should we care? Seriously, I know Tyra is trying to break down the traditional stereotypes of beauty with this stunt, and that’s a noble endeavor, but it’s also impossible for her to do. Why? Because she’s Tyra Banks! Yes, makeup and hair styling and clothes can help transform a woman. But models aren’t picked because they can wear makeup well. They’re picked because they’re beautiful. Tyra won the genetic lottery, and no matter how frazzled her “real” hair looks, she’s still gorgeous.

Huh, never heard of this show. And since it only survived 6 episodes, it appears not many other people have either.

The A.V. Club over at The Onion begins it’s preview of the new fall season for television. It doesn’t look pretty. It looks familiar.

When will the Zach Galifianakis backlash begin? I say Summer of 2011. I’m not condoning it, simply taking action on it.

Ok, so maybe Al Franken does deserve to be a senator, based solely on this.

Esquire interviews Bill Clinton.

Steven Seagal is getting his own reality show?

I’m not 100% sure what to think of this video. I will say I probably shouldn’t have watched it at work, and therefore neither should you. But I can’t pass up Hitler getting a piece of ass.

The (long) story of bringing the children’s book Where the Wild Things Are to the big screen.

If you haven’t heard, The Beatles Rock Band comes out today. Here are 5 songs that are anticipated, and 5 that will be missed.

Apparently the English are just as stupid as us when it comes to stupid sports.

Sure, I can see someone becoming obsessed with trying to solve the Zodiac mysteries. Although it is a little weird to become obsessive over one person that seems to have very little to do with it all. Or does he?

Why don’t I have my jetpack or flying car yet?

What is that Bill Clinton up to these days?

Vanity Fair, c'mon. This article about Bill Clinton really isn't all that earth shaking. Vague suggestions of infidelity, a quicker temper, and the possibility that he might be subconsciously sabotaging his wife's campaign. There's nothing here that isn't suggested every day by his detractors. Can I get something that tells me something I don't know?

The Large Hadron Collider is that big thing in Switzerland that is going to create an artificial black hole. Now, there are suggestions that it will destroy the world somehow, but I'm not worried about that too much. I'm worried about these!

What do you think? Another 2 weeks before we start hearing people chirping about global warming on Mars?

Here's a feel good story about something Disney didn't crush after acquiring it. On the contrary, it's probably a win-win for both companies.
