Cool Shit 10/13

Making moonshine. Today.

I'm a sucker for an avalanche story.

Ranking the mentioned, fictional movies from Seinfeld is brilliant, even though I disagree with #1.

The clown story in the California town hasn't gone away yet. Kinda wish he wouldn't pose with anyone or talk to anyone, to make it scarier. But then again, I'm not the one wearing a clown costume stalking a town at night.

I'm pretty sure the concept of a pepperoni pizza cake is the apex of cooking. Should we even try after this point?

I believe aliens exist somewhere in the cosmos. Not sure they've visited us yet, but if space is indeed infinite, than by definition they have to be around. Of course, I don't think any of these theories definitively prove they are out there.

You may not have heard of Viv, but it's quite possible in the next 5 years you will start having conversations with it. A lot.

Cool Shit 11/1

If you're traveling by bus anytime soon, it's probably going to be you and a bunch of drug smugglers. Unless of course you too are smuggling drugs.

Alright, so maybe you don't want to ride a filthy bus to smuggle drugs. Why not simply make some? (And then you can get one of your deadbeat friends to be the bus smuggler.)

Fine, you don't want to build your kingdom on drugs, (at least not the illegal kind), why not use this handy candy popularity graph to help build your sugar baron kingdom? I'm guessing you're currently sitting in a pile of candy wrappers questioning your existence right now anyway.

And yet maybe the sugar baron thing is just too much and you don't like bees...I get it, so why not try your hand at moonshinin'? Looks like there's going to be an increase in demand.

I'm hoping that when looking a this breakdown of which soda (coke or pepsi) is more evil, people will simply realize both are awful. Also, it isn't far off into the future to see this soda "war" become a real, sponsored war over property, right?

I'm a sucker for a good moonshine story...

I'm a sucker for a good moonshine story...

"He was a short, skinny fella, who always wore his hat—that was kind of his claim to fame, his hat that he always wore. And his bib overalls—he always wore bib overalls. Even when he came to federal court, he was wearing bib overalls. He was a friendly fellow, and of course every time you would talk to him, he would say, 'Ray, I’ve run my last run of moonshine, I'm not gonna do it anymore, I'm just getting too old to be doing this stuff.' And so that's what he'd say every time! But he'd tell me that, and he'd let everybody know, but his cellphone number was very available—he'd give it to people to call to order some moonshine. And one of the stories that came out in his federal court case was that he had met up with a fellow and sold him 50 gallons of moonshine, because there was a discounted rate…he had ended up selling 50 gallons to this undercover agent, helped him load it and everything.

I can only aspire one day to have the number of a moonshiner in my phone that I can call at any time for delivery. (From Mother Jones)

Links of Interest 9/10

Best/worst case scenarios for the Hadron Collider. Why isn't every worst case scenario, "the world ceases to exist"?

I can't imagine why moonshine is illegal. Aside from the fact it could make you go blind. Regardless, I gots to gets me into this business.

In a weird way, this gives me hope. Not that criminals are continually breaking out of prisons, but that no matter what, human beings will always try to find a way to break free of things. I was struggling to cope seeing the kids of today and their mindless dronelike attitude toward everything.

Weatherperson misconduct. I might write a little more about that Stevens fellow. And keep a closer eye on the Japanese.

I can't argue with anything on this list
. In fact, it might be one of the best, and most accurate lists on the web.
