Before the Onion, there was The Weekly World News around to troll us. Sure, it didn't have the biting satire that the Onion has, but it still stood guard at every supermarket checkout aisle, waiting to offer its insane headlines to all who passed. And now, apparently I'm supposed to believe some of the headlines were actually true?
What it's like to be a lobsterman in Maine. You know, people I know who live up there continually tell me I'd be sick of lobster if I was around it all the time. That doesn't mean I don't want to test their theory.
Ugh, I'm not sure why I'm so annoyed by this family only living with 1986 technology, but I am. Maybe it's because it could be a publicity stunt. Maybe it's because it's affecting their livelihood because he'll only use a fax machine at work. Maybe because, while technology obviously has its sociological challenges, it seems the guy was a bit drastic in his solution when his kid wouldn't go outside because he was playing on his ipad. It seems like this gimmick is his answer to "parenting."
I can't begin to tell you how I remembered/stumbled over this, but if you enjoy Monopoly, and mildly chuckle at some of the stuff I write, then you might not vomit after reading a piece I wrote a long time ago about the joys of the board game Monopoly.
In case you're stupid and are constantly outside in thunderstorms, here's a look at how you might survive a lightning strike.
I think "terrible actors" might be a little strong, but even stars with "limited range" can produce a great performance, which sort of suggests this entire article is one big oxymoron, no?

Cool Shit 8/12
Sure, sometimes the satire of the Onion hits a little too close to home, but it should never be taken seriously. Or for real news.
Tech predictions re an uncertain business.
Oh, Elon Musk, you so crazy!
I did not believe I was going to wake up this morning and find footage of Jerry Lewis' infamous The Day the Clown Cried!
Another cool time lapse for you all to enjoy - this one of New York city.

Cool Shit 7/19
Hopefully you're reading this on the toilet to give it some extra ooomph.
So Elon Musk really wants to build this Hyperloop. Has anyone checked to see if he carries a cat around with him all the time?
Enjoy some disturbing Would You Rather questions. Though I think suggesting they are the most difficult is a little hyperbolic. Like, I didn't even see "Would You Rather swim a lap in a pool of mayonnaise or eat a cup of hair?"
Sometimes The Onion is just too good for its own good.
What a great discovery. Apparently while Andy Kauffman was alive, early in his career, he carried around a tape recorder and would routinely record himself having conversations with random people. These conversations are set to be released on a comedy album sometime soon. But this article delves a little deeper, trying to get into the psyche of why Kauffman would do this, and other things.
Norwegian bachelor parties are CRAZY!

Cool Shit 2/6
A look at people's Facebook comments after they believe an Onion article. My hope for humanity's redemption remains extremely low.
Guy visits every country on Earth, which is impressive enough, but also does it sans airplane travel!
Sure the parentheses in these songs probably don't make much sense, and don't have a lot of meaning, but try to get a point in Music Trivia with my friends without mentioning them and you'll be sorry!
No one can say they are the best at living off the grid until they get more remote than this family.
Wait, what? There are going to be standalone character movies within the next set of Star Wars movies? And the first one will be about Yoda? I'll give them this...Good or bad, Disney is definitely taking control of the Star Wars universe.
So there's a new show coming out called The Cult. And it's about people who start watching a new show called The Cult. But then weird things start happening in real life (the fake real life outside the fictional show The Cult, which is what the real television show is about). I'm so watching this.
