Cool Shit 1/15

Inside a coffee laboratory. Well, this might be the only one. I have no idea. It seems pretty sophisticated.

Kurt Busch believes his ex-wife is an assassin. I can't post up a story with those words.

2nd part of the interview with the prosecutor from Serial. Seems like the website may have toned down the inflammatory rhetoric they used with the first part.

I have a hard time with this ranking of Thomas Pynchon novels, since it's impossible for anyone to actually complete a Thomas Pynchon novel. Though I guess that's why his shortest novel is number one.

Here's a look at the upcoming television season for Netflix.

It will be fun to look back on this letter in 50 years (if our robot overlords allow us to).

Cool Shit 10/1

Fincher, fresh off of directing Gone Girl, appears to be directing an entire series for HBO. A conspiracy show from England called Utopia. Sounds intriguing.

If a completely deadly disease showed up in the United States, and I were a government agent, I too would spread propaganda in an attempt to not cause a panic, all the while planning my evacuation. Anyway, here's an article on why we shouldn't worry that Ebola has shown up in the United States.

I guess the other thing I would do is attempt to create a lighter, softer side of the disease, so people don't associate it with complete death the moment they hear its name. Anyway, play this fun little game about unleashing a disease on the world that is completely not Ebola.

Well, you certainly can't suggest Wu-Tang clan isn't trying to come up with some original ideas to sell their albums. Completely different from the one they're going to release to a museum, the next Wu-Tang album will be available to buy in a speaker.

Seriously, is anyone making sure Elon Musk isn't a super villain?

Sure it's got some Big Lebowski vibes, but it's Thomas Pynchon and Paul Thomas Anderson...it's nothing if not crazy:

Cool Shit 8/27

There a number of authors out there whom people read simply to say they've read them, without necessarily understanding why. Thomas Pynchon is probably at the top of that list. Here's a scattered look at his relatively hermitic life.

You might want to check your attic (or your basement, I don't know where you store things) to see if you have any of these old video games. They could score you lots of money.

Not only do trains still exist, but there are some trips that are actually enjoyable.

I want to believe that the Arrested Development movie will be awesome. I want to believe it. But I'm no longer sure I can.

So you're surfing through your Instagram one night...one lonely, lonely night, and you're like, "hey, I wonder what crazy, innocent pictures #bigbootyhoe would bring up for me to look at and do nothing else." Well sir (or madam, I don't judge), you're fresh out of luck, because Instagram bans tags such as #bigbootyhoe. And I for one, am just a little disappointed. Want to know what else they ban? Take a look.

I do enjoy that the Economist, in this article about how to buy drugs online, does employe the line: "Getting a hold of drugs has never been all that easy."

Obviously, the Economist has never been to an ultimate game. Or a high school.

I'm not even sure how I stumbled across this, but if you're looking for a soundtrack for your day, you could do worse than this album of music made to sound like music from an unproduced Mexican Western.

A look at Thomas Pynchon’s latest novel.

The craziness that goes on in airports. Do we really want to know?

Wow – trailer for the new Coen Brothers movie, “A Serious Man.” Certainly looks like something coming from their world. The only issue I had with it was the list of Coen Brothers movies it includes at the end. Would you really include “Burn After Reading” with the other heavy hitters on that list? I mean, I have no problem with them cleaning their palate with something silly like that after the heavy “No Country for Old Men.” I’m sure the set was light and breezy. But c’mon – it doesn’t belong up there with their knockouts!

I’m going to be honest with you. The biggest surprise of this interview? That the Amazing Kreskin was still alive.

I’m fairly certain I could never be an air traffic controller. Even with the potential to sleep with Angelina Jolie.
