Cool Shit 7/1
Finally, a trailer for the Larry David/HBO movie Clear History. Seems as though it has a generic plot, but an unbelievable cast, and the magic of Larry David behind it.
Sure, the article title suggests this is about different ecosystems created within our urban landscapes, but I think it's simply examples about how life will always find a way. Thank Dr. Malcolm!

This is for fans of John Carpenter's The Thing. A look at how John Carpenter had a unique opportunity to take a look at his movie and then almost completely change it when he wasn't satisfied. Very detailed, and slightly hard to follow, it's still a cool example of how directors employ their craft.

Cool Shit 6/12
Here's a look at the top 101 food trucks in America.
Sure the NSA is spying on us all and knows exactly what you were downloading last night (sicko). But you can't blame Hollywood for not trying to warn us for the last 20 years.
So Insane Clown Posse is putting together a television show, which I guess is just a reworking of an existing web series they already do. Here's an example, should you be desperate. And I mean really desperate.
The concept of daredevils is an intriguing one. On one hand, I understand challenging yourself and seeking riskier and riskier feats as a way to make yourself feel alive. On the other hand, I don't understand the publicity behind some of these things. So a guy is going to attempt to walk across a tightrope over the Grand Canyon. That's great for him on a personal level; I wish him success in his endeavor. However, I have no desire to watch it as a man walking foot over foot for 20 minutes or so isn't what I would classify as exciting. No, I assume the one of the major reasons people will tune in to watch it will be to see if he fails and plunges to his death. Please convince me I'm wrong.

This is not a special effects reel from Independence Day II - this is a a formation of a supercell thunderstorm captured on film (or digital video I guess; is there a noun form of "digital film" I should know about? "Video" sounds too VHS-y to me.)

Cool Shit 5/23
Arrested Development week continues! Today, enjoy some set dec photos from the new season and read about the influences David Cross used for Tobias. An amazing look back at the 2003 World Series of Poker - as told by the participants. It's crazy to hear from the people involved and realize that their personas they had on television are exactly the same in real life. Phil Helmuth is still a bragger; Moneymaker is still humble and not quite sure he belongs and Sam Farha is...well he's more awesome than ever, even if he still refuses to give Moneymaker credit. I think I like him more now.
Well this snuck up on me. An HBO movie with Larry David! Here's a brief teaser...
I'm so past the concept of regional sandwiches. Too much going on. Bring me a list of hyper-regional sandwiches!
This list of car chases from a stunt man is woefully incomplete. No French Connection? No The Seven Ups? Oh, never saw the car chase from The Seven Ups?

Sure the movie was great, but what happened after it ended?

I’m not sure if he went in with the intent to “lock horns” with Larry David, or not, but the interview doesn’t come off as great. I’ve also heard some bad things about the movie, which can’t be good for Larry David’s psyche.
